| September 2004 Meeting - Meet Our Members |

Member of the Month: Stephanie White
Stephanie was born in the Virgin Islands, is 21, and has been working at Beads by Design (owned by her mom, Gerry ) since she was in Junior High School. She has stayed at the show for 6 1/2 years through high school and college. She only took up lampworking a year ago when she decided to try making a rainbow cane after overhearing Patti Walton discussing the process during a guest workshop. Stephanie says that starting out by making cane was useful because it gave her a very good feel for the fluidity of glass and how to control it. Since that rather unusual introduction to lampworking, she has been fearless in trying new techniques bypassing the skills of many of us who have been at it alot longer. Her latest venture has been Pate de Verre which she studied this summer in Venice. She does alot of sculptural work and loves to make fish beads - see her colorful creations below.
