Act of Courage Beads The Act of Courage bead is given when the child has undergone a difficult treatment or procedure. There is no specific color or pattern for this bead, but bright colors and patterns are suggested. The size is important for this bead. They are usually between ¾ to 1 inch in diameter and more or less round.
Bumpy Beads ‘Bumpies’ are for the kids after they have had a tough time during treatment, signifying a ‘bumpy ride’. These beads are about the same size - ¾ to1 inch diameter - as the Act of Courage beads, but have textured surfaces. Slightly raised dots in contrasting colors make excellent bumpy beads.
3/32 Mandrels work well for all beads.
