from Kristy Nijenkamp and Cristie Prince

Hi fellow beaders.

Let's see those BEAUTIFUL BEADS shine on our 2009 Southern Flame ISGB chapter Postcard.  Yep, it's that time again for us to gather our chapter's beads to include in the Southern Flames postcard for the ISGB Gathering this summer in Miami.  (Check out website, to see past postcards on the main page and see how various bead colors photograph, etc.).

This postcard is a wonderful opportunity to share our beads collectively as a group, and to highlight your work individually.  For those of you unfamiliar with this project, we send 400 of our chapter's postcards to the 2009 gathering to be placed into bundles of various other individual and chapter postcards for sale.  Each SF participant receives a share of the remaining postcards.  As a group, it is fun and inspiring to see how everyone's glass voice has changed and grown over the years.

Here's the nitty gritty:

1.      HARD DEADLINE: May 20  You have four meetings to turn in your postcard bead and form, or you can mail them to our attention.

2.      SUBMISSION FORM: Attached is a form for you to fill out with name, contact info, bead orientation for photography, etc.

3.      MAIL OPTION: If you cannot submit your bead/form at a meeting, please mail them to:

                  Cristie Prince

                  3909 Blustery Way, N.E.

                  Marietta, GA  30066

                  770-928-5726 (h)

4.     PACKAGING: Whether you mail them or hand deliver at a meeting, please package them carefully into a protective box/padded package with your form inside them as well as marking the package with your name.

5.     NOTIFICATION: If you drop them off at BBD or mail them, please send Cristie Prince a quick email letting her know your bead is on the way.   She will send back a confirmation of receipt.  If you do not receive a confirmation of receipt, this means that she did not receive your bead.

6.      CHOOSING A BEAD:How to choose?  Remember with selecting your bead for photography….sometimes a gorgeous bead does not photograph well (clear beads, light colored beads with dichro, extremely dark beads with dark detail, etc.).  We will do our best to honor the beauty of your beads, but be sure to be proactive on how to best present your beads.  Also large sculptural pieces will be the size of stamps, so keep this proportion in mind with your submission.

Don Meadow's wife, **** Shannon Brickey ++++, has graciously agreed once again, to be our official photographer and designer for this job.  Thank you Shannon!!!!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call either or Cristie Prince, 404-372-9048 (cell) or Kristy Nijenkamp,, 678-468-8745

Thanks everyone….we are looking forward to seeing your beautiful work, and we promise to take good care of your beads!

Cristie and Kristy
